Power Outage....

Power Outage

Wow the power outage we had yesterday, here in California, was quite something. We lost power out here at the Salton Sea for just a few minutes and yet had power all night long. Apparently Palm Springs and the surrounding areas did not have power and Dick said that on his way back from the vet on the stop lights were working and it was quite the mess. I wasn't looking forward to trying to sleep in the heat with the windows open and the smell of the sea, which is really really really bad right now, from our die off, and I thought possibly of trying to sleep in the car with the air conditioner on. I'm glad I didn't have to go for that option. I did talk with Dale a few days ago and he's going to bring a generator down and we're going to plug that into my main room and that way if this happens again I can run an air conditioner and a computer.

Our Dogs

Update on the Doxins; all the dogs are in good shape. Charlie had six teeth pulled and a general cleanup of his mouth, and Sassy had x-rays but they couldn't find anything wrong.

Taxpayer Ripoff

The solar panel company that went out of business with American taxpayer guaranteed loans, found the FBI, on their doorstep, apparently yesterday, to see if any of that money happen to get back to the White House. That should be a very interesting story to follow as it would seem it's embarrassing enough that Obama's pet Company can't compete. With 555 million dollars of American taxpayer money and they can't compete?

Well so talked about vacationing in Aruba and so I'm going to gather some physical details of Aruba and show them here.

Aruba

Aruba (/əˈrbə/ ə-roo-bə, Dutch pronunciation: [ɐˈruba] or [ɐˈryːba]) is a 33 km-long island of the Lesser Antilles in the southern Caribbean Sea, located 27 km north of the coast of Venezuela and 130 km (aprox.) east of Guajira Peninsula (Colombia). Together with Bonaire and Curaçao, it forms a group referred to as the ABC islands of the Leeward Antilles, the southern island chain of the Lesser Antilles.
Aruba, which has no administrative subdivisions, is one of the four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands, together with the Netherlands, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten whose citizens share a single nationality: Dutch citizen. Its capital is Oranjestad. Unlike much of the Caribbean region, Aruba has a dry climate and an arid, cactus-strewn landscape. This climate has helped tourism as visitors to the island can reliably expect warm, sunny weather. It has a land area of 180 square kilometres (69 sq mi) and is densely populated with its estimated 103,000 people. It lies outside the hurricane belt.

Geography

Aruba is a generally flat, riverless island in the Leeward Antilles island arc of the Lesser Antilles. Aruba is widely known for its white, sandy beaches on the western and southern coasts of the island, relatively sheltered from fierce ocean currents, and this is where most tourist development has taken place. The northern and eastern coasts, lacking this protection, are considerably more battered by the sea and have been left largely untouched by humans. The hinterland of the island features some rolling hills, the best known of which are called Hooiberg at 165 meters (541 ft) and Mount Jamanota, the highest on the island at 188 meters (617 ft) above sea level. Oranjestad, the capital, is located at 12°19′N 70°1′W / 12.317°N 70.017°W / 12.317; -70.017.
To the east of Aruba are Bonaire and Curaçao, two island territories which once formed the southwest part of the Netherlands Antilles; this group of islands is sometimes called the ABC islands.

Tax

We also talked about how we get taxed to death here in the state. You get taxed on the money you earn and if you put that money into a CD you get taxed on the way back out. Seems both the government and the state tax money at every motion of that money, as frequently as they can, and we are still broke because of our spending issues and unsustainable pensions.

We also discussed how, when you have a pool or even your house painted, as soon as the contract comes out for you to sign it essentially becomes an instrument from which they can steal from you. Many pool contractors apparently take that contract and draw against the from a construction standpoint, usually to finish the pool before yours. And I told the group about how my brother paid a partial contract for a painter, twice, and he never came back. So our advice is don't sign a contract and if you have to don't pay anything until the job is complete.

Dog Catchers... Again!!!

On my way home I saw five new dogs in a pack, moving along the Dyke between my house, and the really really really smelly Salton Sea. Phil actually went over yesterday to Darins office and found out that he was on jury duty. I'm not so sure he got a chance to talk to anyone else about the dogs but he was trying to. You can believe that I'm going to discuss it again at the next meeting.

Let's all for today, everyone have a good smelly day.
